Listening, learning, asking, acting
We produce long-form audio, video, and live programming that examines how science intersects with policy, power, culture, and everyday life.

Pine Forest Media is an independent environmental science production laboratory working at the intersection of journalism, research, and public understanding.
Our work spans local communities and global institutions, from research labs and universities to international negotiations and public forums. We focus on stories where environmental science meets governance, justice, and decision-making, helping audiences understand not just what the science says, but why it matters.
Inspired by the evergreen forests of Idaho, Pine Forest Media is rooted in curiosity, care, and continuity: steady, rigorous storytelling designed to last beyond the news cycle.

At Pine Forest Media, we work from a Science AND philosophy.
We reject the idea that science exists in isolation. Environmental research is inseparable from political systems, financial incentives, historical inequalities, and lived experience. Our reporting embraces this complexity, bringing interdisciplinary perspectives into conversation rather than simplifying them away.
By translating research into clear, narrative-driven journalism, we make scientific knowledge accessible without stripping it of nuance. Our goal is entry-level understanding with expert depth — reporting that welcomes new audiences while respecting the intelligence of specialists.

Through in-depth interviews, on-the-ground reporting, and carefully structured series, we create space for scientists, researchers, and practitioners to speak in their own voices.
Whether reporting from major international convenings or collaborating with institutions on research-based storytelling, we focus on clarity, credibility, and connection — building trust between experts and the publics they serve.
